Parent Handbook

 

Everyone at Ascot Heath Infant School extends a warm welcome both to you and to your child. We hope that this handbook, together with the  School Prospectus and this website, will provide you with information that will help you and your child feel part of the school as quickly as possible. If there is anything else you would like to know, please do not hesitate to ask.

 

Each child will be offered a curriculum that promotes high standards of achievement regardless of ability, ethnic origin or gender.

 We provide a curriculum which follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum and RE curriculum.

 During the children’s time in Reception, teachers will continually assess their progress.  This will start with an entry baseline assessment and they will complete an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) profile which will be shared with parents in the summer term.

 Throughout their time in school the children’s progress in all areas of the curriculum will be assessed by their class teacher.  In June every child in Year 1 will be assessed in phonics using the Phonics Screening Assessment.  Your child will be formally assessed by their teacher during the summer term of Year 2.  Parents are informed of results of statutory assessments as part of their child’s annual report in the summer term.

 

There are two classes in each year group:

 

Reception       Butterflies and Ladybirds

 Year 1             Rabbits and Hedgehogs

Year 2:             Foxes and Squirrels

Key Stage 1    Years 1 & 2                                   8.55 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.                    

Afternoon Session:

Early Years Foundation Stage                         1.00 p.m. to 3.15 p.m.

Key Stage 1    Years 1 & 2                                  1.15 p.m. to 3.15 p.m.
