Meet the governors

The governing body of Ascot Heath Infant School exists to ensure high standards of achievement for all children and young people in the school by:

    • Setting the school's vision, ethos and strategic direction
    • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
    • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

To this end the governing body is made up of three committees, The Full Governing Body (FGB) on which all governors sit, The Finance and Staffing (F&S) committee and the Teaching, Leaning and Community (TLC) committee.

To fulfil our requirements as governors we meet regularly as committees as well as visiting the school often to see all that is going on.For more information about what we do please see the document "What the Governors do at Ascot Heath Infant School".

Hi, I’m Dave and I chair the full governing body. I live and work in North Ascot and am very involved in the local community. I have been a governor since Nov 2011 and it is a privilege to support the school in achieving all it can for the children in our community. I have two sons, both who attend the Junior school.

Hi, my name is Nicola and I have lived in Ascot for 11 years. I have 4 children, 2 who attended Ascot Heath Infant School. I was the bursar at Ascot Heath for nearly 6 years and decided I wished to continue supporting the school and the children when I left and therefore took on the position of Local Authority Governor. I thoroughly enjoy the role and hope that my input makes a difference. I am the chair of the Finance and Staffing Committee.

I have been Head Teacher at Ascot Heath Infants School since September 2007.  I am very proud of our school, the staff, parents, governors but especially the children.  I try very hard to ensure that they are at the centre of everything we do at school. We are constantly trying to improve the school experience for every child.  When I am not working I am learning to play the piano and enjoy reading, sewing and knitting!

Hi, my name is Hannah O’Neill. I am the deputy head and one of the class teachers in Badgers. I joined Ascot Heath Infants in September 2012 and before that, I was an Inclusion Manager and teacher in a Wandsworth School for 14 years. I am an associate governor on the governing body.

As a parent I believe we are extraordinarily privileged to have such a fantastic local infant school, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff.  As a Governor I value the opportunity this offers me to support the school and to be a small part of the team to ensure we continue to offer the best start for all our pupils. I chair the Teaching, Learning and Community committee.

Hello.  I am Rhona Stainthorp. I joined the Governing Body in the  Autumn term 2015.  I work as a professor in the Institute of Education at the University of Reading and have been involved in many national initiatives to improve literacy education. Both my children were educated at local state schools and I have a commitment to ensuring all children receive the best possible education in their local communities.

What the Governors do at Ascot Heath Infant School

Governor at the Gate

Following the responses we received from the parent questionnaire we realised that a significant number of parents are unaware of us and our role in the school. One of the ways in which we are addressing this is to become more visible around school. There is a governor on the gate one morning each week. Should you have any questions, queries or just want to say hello please do come and see us.

Governor Awards

Every term, we take great pleasure in coming into school to give out our Governor School Value Awards. These awards are given to help the children to understand the importance of our school values.

Our five values are: Respect, Responsibility, Empathy, Perseverance  and Curiosity.

It is amazing to see how the children respond to these awards. These are not awards for behaviour or good work, but solely linked to the 5 values of the school.
