Rights Respecting Schools
We achieved the Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) Level 1 in March 2012. The award recognises the school's achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.
At the beginning of the school year each class creates their own Class Charter, or class rules, based on four "Rights"; the Right to Play, the Right to Learn, the Right to be Safe and the Right to Play. In addition we have a whole school charter which covers the same rights.
