The children have had lots of fun this week playing and exploring with ice. They have been talking about how the weather changes as we approach Winter.

This week we have started to practice our Christmas play. If your child is a narrator their lines will have already been sent out. Please support us by practicing at home with your child.

If your child is a narrator, please can you send them in with clothes that they can wear for the dress rehearsal and performance on Thursday 15th December.

We would like the narrators to wear either a Christmas jumper/top or a green/red coloured top and a pair of plain trousers or leggings. Please can you send the clothes into school in a named bag by Friday 9th December

Thank you to all the parents who have continued to practice newly learned sounds at home. This opportunity allows them to consolidate their understanding and has a great impact on pupil progress! Make sure you send in green sound books everyday so that we can share the children's learning with them.

We are still collecting clean, milk bottle tops. There is a collection box in the main reception area, or alternatively pass them on to your child's class teacher.

Finally, please make sure that all of your child's clothing is named.

Thank you

Thank you to all those parents who attended the Learning Journey drop in session. The children were so proud of their work and really enjoyed sharing it with you! If you did not get a chance to come along please speak to your class teacher.

This week we have been thinking about the importance of recycling as a school. We will be collecting clean, plastic milk bottle tops for a local charity. The bottle tops will be melted down and sold for plastic. Not only does it teach the children about recycling, but it helps support a local cause. There will be a box in the playground, or alternatively send them in with your child.

Please remember that tomorrow is Mufti Day. The children can wear their own clothes and need to bring a present for the secret present room.

Please remember we are having a Learning Journey drop in session next week for each class. The children are very excited to share their work with you! Please check which day your class has been allocated. Any problems please speak to your class teacher.

Next week we are learning about Diwali as part of our celebrations topic. If you would be interested in coming in and speaking to the children about Diwali, please let your class teacher know.

We will be holding a Learning Journey drop-in session for you to come in and share your child's learning with them. It is a great opportunity for you to look at all the wonderful things they do at school.

They will be spread out across the week beginning Monday 14th November.

Butterflies: Monday 14th November

Ladybirds: Tuesday 15th November

Bumblebees: Thursday 17th November

The session will run from 8:30-8:50. Any problems please speak to your class teacher.

Thank you to all parents who attended parents evening, it was great to catch up with you. We are very pleased with how the children have settled and we look forward to next half term.

Please make sure you read with your child everyday during half term. It is important to record any books you share in their reading records.

We will be sending you a date for you to come in and share your child's learning journey with them. The children are always really proud of them and it will be a great opportunity to look at their hard work.

After half term we will be sending home a sound book for you to practice the letter formation rhymes with your children. Every time the children learn a new sound we will date the page for you to practice at home that evening. Even if your child is keen to write, please only complete one page at a time as it is important they have the input at school first.

This week the children have been thinking about what makes them special. It is important for the children to be able to speak about themselves and their family in a positive way. Next week we will be putting a table outside each class. This is an opportunity for you to write down on a post-it note why your child is special. We will then share these with the children, and they will go in their Learning Journeys.

For example: Adam is very special because he is a very kind boy and always makes us smile.

It has been fantastic to see all the wonderful comments parents have been writing in reading records. It really supports the children at school and creates a love of reading. Keep up the good work!

We hope you have all booked in for Parents Evening next week, on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th October. We look forward to seeing you.

This week we have had lots of fun experimenting with different art activities. All of the children enjoyed creating bubble blowing and shape printing pictures.

Over the next two weeks we will be sending every child home with a reading record and brown book. The reading record allows you to write down any comments and is checked regularly by the class teacher. It is important that you share a book with your child everyday to encourage their love of reading.

We have noticed that lots of children are coming into school with temporary tattoos. Please could you discourage your child from choosing to have a tattoo in term time, as they are becoming increasingly distracting for the other children.

At school we love sharing the children's home achievements. If your child accomplishes something at home that they are proud of, please write it down on a piece of paper and send it into school. Examples could include:

  • Bob rode his bike without stabilizers for the first time.
  • Sarah swam 1m without armbands.
  • Prity helped her family prepare dinner.

We have had a great first week at school. The children have enjoyed exploring all areas of our unit. Have a look at the photos below.

For your child's activities at school we will have set up our outdoor area ready for their learning. Please could you ensure that younger siblings are not playing in this area before and after school.

If we continue to have great weather can you make sure your child brings in a named sun hat.  Also, please could we remind you again that everything belonging to your child must be clearly labelled with their name.
